My Favorite Immune-Boosting Fire Cider Recipe

I absolutely love the wintertime! I love all the magic in the air and the holiday spirit that surrounds us all, and don’t forget the snow- as a New England girl, I even love that too!

What I don’t love in the winter? Being sick. Being sick around the holidays is never fun and puts a damper on everything!

Since I was in medical school, I have been sticking to this tried and true, immune-boosting recipe for fire cider (which is just a boosted-up vinegar drink.) I love adding in fresh herbs like thyme and parsley, citrus like lemon and orange, and even a spicy kick with habanero pepper!

The antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties of the herbs infuse into the vinegar, and after 4 weeks of infusing, the fire cider is ready to strain and drink daily!

Are you ready to get started on your first fire cider of the winter season? Head over to your kitchen, grab these ingredients, and let’s get started!

Dr. Dumont’s Favorite Immune-Boosting Fire Cider Recipe:

  • 3 sprigs of fresh thyme

  • ½ lemon, thinly sliced

  • 1 habanero chili split in half

  • 1 teaspoon peppercorns

  • ¼ cup raw honey (or more to taste)

  • 3 sprigs chopped, fresh parsley

  • 1 orange, thinly sliced

  • ½ cup fresh horseradish, peeled and diced

  • ¼ cup fresh ginger, peeled and diced

  • ¼ cup fresh turmeric, peeled and diced

  • 3 sprigs, fresh rosemary

  • ½ cup onion, peeled and diced

  • 2-3 cups raw apple cider vinegar

  • Add all ingredients to a large mason jar and let it rest for 4 weeks before straining and drinking 1-2 tablespoons in water daily

I can't wait for you to give this fire cider recipe a try this winter season! I hope you love it as much as I do and that you and your family stay well this holiday season!
